Maxine Green.
Founder and Director
Maxine is the founder and Director of Swing Time Jivers and began her training at Laban College youth group which is part of Goldsmith University.
Maxine was originally a member of the Jiving Lindy Hoppers in 1989 with whom she toured the world. She has performed, with an extensive list of professional bands including Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, Tony Jacobs’ Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra, Boston Pops Orchestra at Boston Symphony Hall, Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Panama Francis to name a few.
Maxine performed at the “Proms in the Park” concert in London’s Hyde Park, the London Palladium with the amazing Beatrice Reading, New York’s prestigious Lincoln Centre’s “Out of Doors Festival” and the Royal Albert Hall and has taught Lindy hop to all age groups worldwide including Harrang Dance Camp.
Maxine has worked with the great original Lindy Hoppers such as Norma Miller and Frankie Manning whom she partnered in the Lindy Hop at Lyons Dance Festival.
Maxine won the Lindy Hop Division of the 1994 Lindy Hop Championship which was held in New York. She has appeared in many Lindy Hop dance videos including featuring with Tom Jones and Jools Holland.
She was a featured dancer in the film Wondrous Oblivion, and the Halcyon. She taught the cast of East Enders a few Lindy Hop moves whilst appearing in a few episodes. Maxine has appeared in numerous TV programmes whilst performing and sharing the love of Lindy Hop and Swing.
Maxine is currently a Guinness World record holder and worked as part of a team for the most swing flips in one minute which was hosted live by Bruce Forsyth in London Trafalgar Square.
Maxine has been on numerous tours to Japan, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Europe and Singapore.
Maxine’s most recent project is SHAKE THAT THING! The Great British Swing Dance Show which she has devised with Tony Jacobs, his Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra and the Swing Time Jivers.
